The Ghost of the Audrey 2!

I've been really lazy in posting things I've made on this blog. However here's a picture of Kelli's quilt. For her birthday I made the quilt top, but hadn't quite gotten around to sewing assembling it. The top isn't anything fancy, it's not meant to be-it's just 12 inch squares. The backing is just a sheet. However, it's super snuggly and I was hoping she didn't like the quilt so I could keep it. However, she informed me that she loves it.
Bonus: I made the floral pillow a couple of months ago. I don't love it, but it matches our house almost too well. I think I'm a little over this pillow mostly because it reminds me of our old couch and that's a little unsettling.

Family Ties

Have you ever had a really dumb thought that you know is just well, kind of inane? Well, this summer, I was wondering if my nose was from my mother's or my Dad's side as it doesn't really look like either. I know, it's just a dumb little thought, and now you know some of what goes on in my head.
Anyway, after our trip to Europe this summer, my little brother invited me to a Family History Facebook group for individuals who had family from the Diemtigen Valley of Switzerland. Since our great-grandmother's father's family is from there and our great-grandfather's family is from a valley near-by, I joined too. I'm still not sure totally where we tie into the others on the site (they are mostly Kunz's and there's ALOT of Kunzes.) But while on the site I found the picture below. My great-grandmother Sophia Rebecca Kunz Buhler is in the lower left of this picture with her siblings. I've never seen this picture before (and my nose question was answered).

I also came across this photo of my Great-Grandfather Buhler (Rebecca's husband). I'd never seen many photos of him, let alone one when he was a young man.

Thanks Megan!!

I'm really sorry for the tardiness of this post. Back in July, when I had my first surgery, my roommate brought back this card for me. Her niece, Megan, crafted it with love for me. Isn't it awesome? Plus, I love the colors she picked! Thanks again Megan!

World Domination?

My niece is an infant, but I noticed recently that she has an awesome quirk when she smiles. I don't think my brother or sister-in-law will get mad at me if I point this out, but if they do--here's my apology in advance.

Anyway, my niece? She smiles like a super villain and it's pretty darn adorable.
Here's one example, but there's more on their blog :

Happy Friday!

Yes, that would be Regis Philbin and "Pee-Wee Herman" in matching suits and shoes robbing a candy store in New York. Why? Why not?

Wow!

Bighorn sheep are known to be sure-footed, but check out the means this herd uses to get from one side of the dam to another.

Rennaisance Festival Fear

Every year, the Maryland Rennaisance Festival is held and during that time I'm a nervous mess. Just today I saw an invitation from friends to attend the Festival this weekend.

You see, I'm afraid of rennaisance festivals. Not that I've ever been to one, but the idea of watching re-enactors of the medieval ages strikes fear into my heart. Really. Although I'm a huge fan of fairs, street festivals etc. Rennaisance Festivals give me serious anxiety. I think (I'm not going on their website) the Maryland Rennaisance Festival is being held this month, and....I'll be excited when November comes around. No more thinking about Rennaisance Festivals for another year, and being worried that I'll be asked to attend one with friends.

Robbie Williams Duet

While in Europe, Steven and I got acquainted with German MTV while we got ready for the day. One of our highlights of the day was this video, a duet between Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow with some obvious brokeback references. Because I'm from the US, I'm not a Robbie Williams fan, but this video cracked me up. Enjoy.

Health Update: Bronchial Thermoplasty

My third and final bronchial thermoplasty was on Thursday. The surgery went well, except for one minor complication. My doctor had difficulty getting the probe into my upper bronchial tubes which caused some bleeding (which was coughed up the first 24-36 hours after the surgery) and extra discomfort. Other than the extra blood (which really was more of a pain than anything else), this surgery has been easier than the last two so far. I'm still not doing much, but I feel less fatigued than I did previously and I really haven't had that many full-blown asthma attacks compared to the previous two times.

Id Theft?

Yesterday, an employee at my bank called. He asked me about a couple of recent charges to my ATM card, and after I confirmed that I didn't make a $96.00 purchase at a Sports Authority in California, he told me that my card was going to be deactivated. I thanked him for catching the unauthorized charges so quickly, but then he kept talking. He told me that a new card would be mailed in 3-5 business days and that I would receive it another 7-10 business days after that. Really, after deactivating someones account, they can't use it for 2-3 weeks? That's the thanks I get? Granted, I like my bank, but you would think a bank would make more of an effort to assist their customers. Anyway, I understand the security arguments for not using the ATM card much, and now I'm going to put that in practice.

Sadly, You are not a monster

This is going around the Internets, and rightfully so.  As Grover says,”Anything is possible when you smell like a monster and know the word on.”

True Grit

When I heard "True Grit" was being remade, I was skeptical. But then I heard that the Coen brothers were at the helm with Jeff Bridges as the John Wayne character, and I changed my mind. Now, I'm looking forward to this film:
